Lulu in the Spotlight!

Lulu cherishes her memories of Marymount and misses it already!

What will you miss most about Marymount?

I will miss all of the amazing people I have met through my Marymount journey. Marymount has been a second home to me since I arrived in Grade 7. I will especially miss my basketball and football girls so much as well as my fellow classmates.

What is your funniest/favourite memory from Marymount?

I honestly don’t even know where to start because I have an infinite amount of incredible memories at Marymount. If I had to pick one memory, I would have to say that jamming with all of my friends along with Mr. Clarke and Dr. Byers at our Grade 12 retreat was pretty amazing. It was a very calming and genuine moment that I will cherish.

What is your favourite Marymount tradition?

I think that my favourite Marymount tradition is the Welcome BBQ at the beginning of every year. I was always so excited to go and see the friends I hadn’t seen all summer or the new girls who would be joining our community.

Where is your favourite place on campus?

I would have to say the DP lounge because we did anything and everything in there or the sports hall because I spent so much time there. I also loved laying on the front lawn with my friends on sunny days while looking at the beautiful Main House building.

Which university do you plan to attend/what subject will you be pursuing after leaving Marymount?

I plan to study Medicine to become a paediatrician in the future. Currently, it looks like I will be going to university in Paris next year.

What are you most looking forward to about university?

To step out of my comfort zone (the supposed ‘Marymount bubble’), meet new people, and to start the rest of my life.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In 10 years, I see myself STILL in med school, hopefully at the end of my journey to becoming a paediatrician.

What advice do you have for younger students as they move forward in their Marymount experience?

Enjoy every moment at Marymount with the amazing people you have around you. It is so rare to find such an amazing community. These are the people and the moments that you will never forget. Although it may seem hard, savour EVERY moment.

Who has been an influential figure in your life at Marymount?

Although he didn’t teach me for my last two years at Marymount, I would have to say Mr. Robertson. He never failed to make us laugh or light up our day during tough times. He has such a vibrant personality that is very unique, and I will miss seeing him every day in the DP lounge or making TikToks with him at prom.

Anything else you’d like to add?

I am so very proud of the Class of 2020 and although our high school experience ended differently than we expected, we made it! This situation has only strengthened our bond and made us more resilient. To the younger girls that I have the privilege to call my friends, I will miss you all, but I can’t wait to see what you will achieve in the future, so keep going because I believe in you. To the rest of the Marymount community, enjoy your time because I miss it already.
