This year’s GRAMMY nominations have been awaited by fans and artists worldwide, and the moment has finally come! The Award nominations were live streamed with former GRAMMY winners, nominees and other celebs tuning in to present this year’s nominees.

Harvey Mason, host, says that, “The nominees we are presenting today reflect diversity of race, gender, age, region and musical genre. We dedicate these GRAMMYs to all the people who make music and bring it to our audiences, along with the thousands of medical professionals, first responders, researchers and others who continued to help us get past these challenging times, and onto a brighter future.

In order for artists and their work to be considered for a GRAMMY Award, their song or album must have been released between September 1 2019 and August 31 2020. After the nominations, the final round of voting will take place between December 7th 2020 and January 4th 2021.

The nominees for the main categories of Record Of The Year, Album Of The Year , Song Of The Year and Best New Artist were announced by host Harvey Mason, followed by various hosts: Yemi Alade, Imogen Heap, Pepe Aguilar, Lauren Daigle, Sharon Osbourne, Nicola Benedetti, Gayle King, Megan Thee Stalion, Dua Lipa and Mickey Guyton.

Many artists have become Grammy nominated ones this year, of which Korean band BTS, Doja cat, Megan Thee Stallion and Harry Styles. This year the women of music stole the show, with Beyonce receiving the most GRAMMY nominations – a total of 9 – as well as Taylor Swift and Dua Lipa, each receiving 6 nominations for their work.

One of the biggest talking points after this year’s uncovering of the nominees has been The Weekend, who was “snubbed” of his nominations. The Canadian singer, songwriter, and record producer has been nominated for zero GRAMMY awards despite his “Blinding Lights” being the biggest chart hit this year. Furthermore, BTS’s song “Dynamite” was only nominated for one award, despite the music video breaking countless records.

The 63rd GRAMMY Awards will take place next year, on Sunday 31st January. Whilst many details still remain unclear due to COVID-19, such as who will be performing, it has been confirmed that Trevor Noah, who is known for his work on “The Daily Show” will be the host. After working on the GRAMMY’s for 40 years now, Ken Ehrlich the show’s producer has retired and Ben Winston will be taking over for him, who is known for his work on James Cordon’s late-night show and “Carpool Karaoke”.
