The beloved Cartoon show Powerpuff Girls is coming to life, as the live-action of the show will be coming to the CW, with production having already began last summer. The original show ran for six seasons between 1998 and 2005, with a total of 78 episodes.

The show will feature adult incarnations of Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup, and whilst they may longer be animated characters, they will still have their powers. The official logline for the show is: The Powerpuff Girls used to be America’s pint-sized superheroes, now they’re disillusioned twentysomethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime-fighting. Will they agree to reunite now that the world needs them more than ever? Based on the original Cartoon Network animated series and characters created by Craig McCracken.

Chloe Benner with be featuring as Blossom Utonium, Dove Cameron as Bubbles Utonium and Yana Perrault as Buttercup Utonium. Additionally, the cast will feature Donald Faison as Professor Drake Utonium, Nicholas Podany as Jojo Mondel and Robyn Lively as Sara Bellum.

The CW released pictures of the live-action and fans are not impressed with the first look. Fans have taken to twitter to express their opinions, asking whether there was “a way to cancel this before the pilot episode” (@SwankHippie) and saying to “defund the production” (@TheeGreatJA). Many have criticised the costume calling them “cheap Halloween costumes” and questioning whether they are the official costumes.

There is no official release date for the live-action show yet, but it expected to air in the autumn of 2021.
