This piece explores concepts of cultural connection in the diaspora, and how immigrants can connect to our home cultures whilst not being there, particularly during the pandemic. For many, being able to visit the home country is an essential part to maintaining one’s sense of identity; when we are not able to return for a long time, your sense of identity and nationality begins to crumble. For me, I associate going home to Argentina with long, saturated summers, but as it has been almost three years since visiting, the mundane, grey everyday of Britain is beginning to become the dominant part of my life.
